This is the 2004 Thunderbird in Vintage Mint Green...a sparkling, brilliant, and modern version of the World's Most Wanted Car.
An example of actual production sequence vs. the VIN

A Ford vehicle identification number (VIN) is assigned before production actually begins. The order of the vehicle on the assembly line is not dependent on the VIN itself. When cars and trucks leave the line (rotate) is based on production capabilities,  component availability, logistical directives, and special order vehicles that may have "broken the line".

Here is a roster of 2004 Thunderbirds that were identified on the Wixom Assembly Plant's line, starting on October 8, 2003. Their VINs and basic descriptions were noted, and they were assigned Registry Numbers based on their order in the line.

The method of VIN assignment and the order of departure from the assembly line ("rotation") has remained consistent at all Ford, Mercury, Edsel, and Lincoln assembly plants for many decades.

This roster illustrates:

  • A particular vehicle may have actually been produced earlier than another vehicle with a lower VIN.

  • A particular vehicle may have actually been produced later than another vehicle with a higher VIN.

N.B.: This roster is not an all inclusive-list of a particular production sequence; it merely identifies certain cars, and places them in the Registry by their documented order on the Wixom assembly line.
