Frequently Asked Questions about the Registry

Question: What is the purpose of the Registry?

Answer: The purpose of the Registry is document as many examples of Ford Thunderbirds as possible. By documenting these cars, we gain a greater understanding of them: their impact on society, what makes them unique, restoration information, values, and much more. How the information is interpreted is limited only by the user's imagination.

Question: How much does it cost to register a Thunderbird?

Answer: There is no charge to register a Thunderbird or use the Registry's pages.

Question: What years of Thunderbirds are accepted?

Answer: All years: 1955-1997 and 2002-2005.

Question: Can I register a Thunderbird I used to own, or that belongs to someone else?

Answer: Yes. The Registry focuses on the Thunderbird, not the owner.

Question: Can I register a Thunderbird that has been crushed, wrecked, or parted out? Why should these Thunderbirds be registered?

Answer: Yes, you can register a Thunderbird that has left us. If these Thunderbirds are not registered, there will be no documentation. It is up to you. Please indicate the last known status when you register the Thunderbird.

Question: How do I know if the Thunderbird I want to register is already in the data base?

Answer: Use this search form.

Question: How are the pages in the Registry produced?

Answer: Most of the pages are Active Server Pages. These pages are created by polling the data base of VINs, years, body styles, codes, pictures, and comments. These components are then organized into a page that you view. The data base is almost a living thing, i.e., new information is being added almost every hour. Therefore, a roster of say, Sports Roadsters may contain more information the next time you look at it. The rosters get updated automatically whenever pertinent information is added to the data base. Active Server Pages can be identified by the ".asp" suffix at the end of their URL.

Question: Can I register a Thunderbird without knowing the VIN?

Answer: A Registry Number can be assigned only for Thunderbirds with a complete and valid VIN. The "Not Yet Registered" page is for Thunderbirds that have been spotted but no VIN documentation is available- yet.

Question: How do I have the information about my Thunderbird updated? I am the new owner, or I want to add/change information and/or pictures.
