Thunderbird Registry Picture Guide
|
- Do not send high-resolution, multi-megabyte
pictures. Use the "email" or "low resolution" setting of your camera.
Modern digital cameras are usually pre-set for high resolution which
is not suitable for email.
- Reduce the resolution in your picture editing
software. Over 700k in size is too much.
- Crop out extraneous scenery.
- Try to stage the picture in a neutral area - it's
fine to be in front of a mountain or lake, but these features are
not important to the car and will be cropped out. Before you shoot,
make sure there are no trash cans, pets, telephone poles, street
signs, etc. in the view which will cause a cluttered, difficult
view.
- Close the hood, trunk, and doors. A lowered door window is
better.
- Do not use a profile view. The profiles make your
Thunderbird look like a cardboard cut-out and result in "short"
image which is difficult to view on a web page. (see below)
- The best pose is a "3/4" view (like below).
This image is 700 x 325 pixels in size, with a weight of only 64kb.

| When re-sized to 200 pixels for the Registry web page
it will look like this: |

See how much better the gray car looks than the
black one:

|
This 200-pixel size image is perfect for a web page,
you see the car's design from 2 sides. No clutter. Even the most
"average" Thunderbird looks better in an uncluttered environment than
the most rare, uncommon, or unusual one put into a busy situation that
has no bearing on the car itself.
The Registry is not simply a
beauty pageant for trailer queens; every Thunderbird is welcome.
Regardless of your car's condition please do not hesitate to send a
picture. These guidelines are meant to be helpful and to give you hints
as to how to "show off" your 1955-2005 Thunderbird. I chose the picture
of that Silver Mink 1964 Thunderbird (which is Registry Number 33278)
because of its pose, not condition.
