M-Code Engine

 

The 390-cubic inch, 340-horsepower 6V High Performance Engine was referred to as the "340-hp 390-cu.in. Sports V-8" in the Ford Buyer's Digest of New Car Facts for 1962. It was optional in 1962 and 1963 at an extra cost of $242.10. This engine option also included an Engine Dress-up Kit that included these chromed items: air cleaner assembly with Thunderbird insignia, brake master cylinder, fuel log, oil breather cap, oil dipstick handle, power steering reservoir, radiator cap and surge (overflow) tank, valve covers that are embossed with "THUNDERBIRD", and valve cover bolts.
