RN 5347 at Mt. Mitchell overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway

This special roster was suggested by Eric Taylor, who owns Registry Number 5347 pictured above. His 1960 Thunderbird was originally purchased by his father when it was new, and Eric now owns it. Eric's idea was to have a list of Thunderbirds that have remained in the same family since they were new, similar to the Original Owner's Club. OK, Eric, your idea is now a reality - a permanent part of the Thunderbird Registry. It is with gratitude that the Thunderbird Registry acknowledges this important addition, and the roster is dedicated to Eric's dad.

Above you see Mr. Gene Kovacs with his then-new 1966 Thunderbird Hardtop. Mr. Kovacs emigrated from Hungary to the United States in 1951 amidst  the worst post-war hardships and problems most of us will never truly understand. This Thunderbird was the first and only new car that he ever owned, purchased new in Coudersport, Pennsylvania. It is now owned by his daughter and son-in-law and its story can be read in more detail here. The Thunderbird Registry is honored to have this special car in its ranks and to be able to share its history.

Lou Thomas' 1959 Thunderbird Hardtop (below) is a recent addition to the FT Roster - here we have a striking picture of RN 33359 when it was new, on a street in New York City. On May 19, 2009 the 1960 Thunderbird now owned by Jose Casillas entered the Registry as RN 33403 and became part of the FT Roster, too.
